Is Internet Service Down In Pakistan

The federal government of Pakistan has decided to suspend internet services in major cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Multan, due to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest scheduled for November 24th. The decision was made to prevent the spread of misinformation and to maintain law and order during the planned demonstration.

Sources within the Ministry of Interior revealed that the internet shutdown will be implemented after 12 midnight, while mobile phone signals will remain operational. This measure is specifically targeted at disrupting internet connectivity and Wi-Fi networks, aiming to hinder any coordinated efforts by the protesters.

The government has previously indicated that mobile internet services in certain districts of Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa might also be affected. Additionally, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) was set to activate firewalls on mobile internet services from November 22nd, which would slow down internet speeds and impact social media platforms.

Despite these measures, the PTI has reaffirmed its decision to proceed with the protest on November 24th. In a late-night meeting of the party's political committee, it was decided that the protest would continue until their demands are met, including the release of arrested party leaders and workers, the repeal of the 26th Amendment, and the restoration of the mandate of the 2018 elections.

The PTI has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating economic situation and the rising incidents of terrorism, criticizing the government's inaction in addressing these issues.
