Punjab Schools Winter Vacations

Punjab Schools Winter Vacations

The School Education Department is expected to announce winter vacations for all schools in the province for two weeks, usually in the last month of the calendar year, December, to protect students from harsh weather and to reopen schools in the first month of the next year.

According to details, the Punjab government is expected to announce winter vacations for all public and private schools from December 21 (Saturday) to January 1, 2025 (Wednesday).

However, the final decision regarding the holidays will be taken by the Education Department after reviewing the weather conditions, as the worsening smog problem this year has also forced the closure of educational institutions.

Last year, the winter holidays were from December 18 to 31, and were later extended to January 9, 2024.

Recent Updates on Punjab School Holidays

After a week-long closure of schools and colleges, the provincial government announced the reopening of institutions in three divisions of Punjab as the smog crisis improved significantly over the past three days.

A notification issued by the Punjab School Education Department stated that schools in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala divisions have reopened, however, schools in Lahore and Multan divisions will remain closed until further notice.

The Punjab School Education Department has also announced new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all public and private schools.
